The NACHC�s, Community HealthCorps program will collaborate with the National Park Service (NPS), Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance (RTCA) program to develop a Healthy Communities program. The objective of this program is to utilize Community HealthCorps/AmeriCorps members working in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) to design, develop and implement programs and engage in activities that apply the principles of the Let's Move Cities and Towns and Let's Move Outside initiatives, to encourage health and wellness and outdoor recreation, by promoting the utilization of green spaces in urban park resources, with an emphasis on National Parks.

The purpose of the SBIR program is to provide an opportunity for US-owned, for-profit small business firms to submit innovative, applied, research and development projects that address important problems facing American agriculture and have the potential to lead to significant public benefit if the research is successful. Research proposals are accepted in any of the following topic areas: 1) Forests and Related Resources; 2) Plant Production and Protection - Biology; 3) Animal Production and Protection; 4) Air, Water, and Soils; 5) Food Science and Nutrition; 6) Rural Development; 7) Aquaculture; 8) Biofuels and Biobased Products; 9) Marketing and Trade; 10) Animal Manure Management; 11) Small and Mid-Size Farms; and 12) Plant Production and Protection - Engineering. The SBIR program exists in three phases. The purpose of Phase I is to prove the scientific or technical feasibility of the proposed research and development effort. Phase I projects typically are for 8 months. Phase II is the principal research and development effort and often involves moving the project from the laboratory to the field or the development of prototypes. Phase II projects typically are for 24 months. Phase III is the commercialization phase and there is no SBIR support provided for this phase. Phase I applications are due on September 1, 2011. This SBIR program funding opportunity is for Phase I applications.

R40 MCHR and R40 SDAS: The Maternal and Child Health Research Program will award grants to support applied research relating to maternal and child health services, which show promise of substantial contribution to the advancement of the current knowledge pool. Findings of this research should result in health and health services improvements in States and communities. Research proposals should address critical MCH questions such as public health systems and infrastructure, health disparities, quality of care, and promoting the health of MCH populations. R40 EHR Pediatric PBRN Initiative: The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support an existing electronic health record (EHR) based pediatric practice-based research network to conduct comparative effectiveness research (CER) and epidemiologic assessments of the use of selected psychotropic medications and the most commonly prescribed asthma medications in pediatric populations, as well as possible associations between these medications and metabolic disorders in this population

The Ginetta Sagan Fund: Call for Nominations for 2011 Ginetta Sagan Award for Women’s and Children’s Rights

Ginetta Sagan fund was created in 1994 by the Amnesty International USA to honor the humanitarian achievements of late Ginetta Sagan (1925 – 2000). Ginetta Sagan received the 1996 Presidential Medal of Freedom for three decade’ struggle for the rights of prisoners of conscience across the world. Ideals of Ginetta still inspire present generations advocating for human rights.
Purpose
The purpose of the Ginetta Sagan Fund of Amnesty International USA is to recognize and assist women who are working to protect the liberty and lives of women and children in areas where human rights violations are widespread. The 2011 award will be given to a woman who works on behalf of the human rights of women and children.
