Call For Proposal 2012: Nordic Climate Facility (NCF)

The aim of the Nordic Climate Facility (NCF) is to promote the transfer of technology, know-how and innovative ideas between the Nordic countries and low-income countries facing climate change challenges. The main goal is to bolster the capabilities of low-income countries to mitigate and adapt to climate change challenges and implement sustainable development measures which will lead to the reduction of poverty.

Grant financing of up to EUR 500 000 can be granted to partnerships between relevant Nordic (i.e. Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Iceland) institutions, organisations, companies, authorities and qualified local Partners in low-income countries.

Countries eligible for the grant financing programme include:  Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe; Bangladesh, Cambodia, Kyrgyz Republic, Lao PDR, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam; Bolivia, Honduras and Nicaragua.

NCF is financed by the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) and implemented jointly with NEFCO. The total budget for the Third Call is EUR 6 million.
The Second Call, with an emphasis on renewable energy and urban adaptation to climate change, was launched in October 2010 and attracted 176 proposals, 12 of which were approved for funding.

The Humanitarian Water and Food Awards 2012

The Water and Food Award recognizes and promotes sustainable initiatives from around the world. Every year, we create a list of applicants and select finalists who we fly to Copenhagen to receive publicity and contacts with companies looking to sponsor and assist their efforts.

UN OHCHR Call For Application 2011-2012

The Call for Applications for 2011-2012 will accept project applications from eligible applicants aimed at implementing recommendations made by the Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture after a visit to a State party, provided these recommendations are contained in a report that has become public by the request of the State party. Applicants may request grants of up to US$ 20,000 for project applications implemented between 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2012.
 
For 2011-2012, four thematic priorities have been established:
  •  Notifications of fundamental rights to detainees in a language which they can understand
  • Improving recreational and/or vocational activities for juveniles in detention
  • Basic training programmes for detention personnel (with the inclusion of a focus on health care)
  • Any other specific recommendation in the visit reports that details a pressing and compelling need.
 
All applications must be submitted in English, French or Spanish. The final number of grants awarded will depend on the proposed budgets of selected project applications, as well as the financial resources of the Fund.
The Call for Applications 2011-2012 will close on 30 November 2011 at 24:00 CET.
