Call for Application 2013 - UN HABITAT: For urban Youth Fund

Posted by Unknown Wednesday, February 20, 2013 0 comments

Closing Date: April 15,2013.
UN-Habitat on Tuesday launched a call for applications for the Urban Youth Fund supports the Millennium Development Goals and the UN-Habitat agenda for sustainable and equitable urban development. Grants are up to US$25 thousand for solutions to job creation, good governance, adequate shelter, and secure tenure. Past projects include several in urban tree planting, waste clean-up and recycling, urban gardens, and other "green" topics.

Indeed, of the one billion slum dwellers in the world today, it is estimated that more than 70% are under the age of 30. These young people have few resources available to improve their own living. Interestingly though, there are many youth-led initiatives in slums and squatter settlements around the world that require support in their efforts to transform their communities. This has led UN-Habitat to reconsider the youth as drivers for change. Through this Fund, UN-Habitat embraces the belief that youth are a solution for sustainable urban development.

The agency invites young people based in cities or towns from the developing world to apply for grants from the Fund.

Call for Pre-Proposal 2013 - Greenvolved: For suggested environmental projects

Posted by Unknown 0 comments

Greenvolved has issued a call for pre-proposal applications (for suggested environmental projects). Greenvolved, has developed a new and innovative way to promote global awareness for environmental projects, and through its technology – gives these projects better chances to get funded.

We are looking for non-academic environmental projects with a clear and direct benefit to its inhabitants.
Budget:
A. One-Phase projects should be within a budget range of 75,000-500,000 USD
B. Projects can also be submitted as a multi-phase project. This means that each phase of the project should have a separate budget of 75,000-250,000 USD. Please see the Multi-phase projects explanation section (in the Greenvolved pre-proposal application form) which elaborates on this funding process.
We are interested in environmental projects which relate to these categories:
1. Natural Habitats
2. Wildlife
3. Natural Resources
4. Energy
5. Education
6. Pollution

Please mind that these categories are non-mutually exclusive, so a project can be related to more than one category.

There is no geographical or taxonomic focus. Any applied project with benefits to the environment will be reviewed and considered. All agendas and disciplines are eligible. We seek for projects with clear added value to nature (to state it in common words, putting scientific terms a side for that purpose). It could be related to ecosystem services, to wildlife conservation, habitat restoration, zoological, botanical and any other field as long as the positive effect of the project is stated clear.

Due to bureaucracy issues we cannot work at the moment with any governmental organization or with universities. The project can and should have a solid scientific rational but we cannot collaborate with university systems for now.

Call For Proposal 2013 - World Bank GPSA

Posted by Unknown 0 comments
Closing Date: March 14,2013.

The objective of the GPSA is to improve development results by supporting capacity building for enhanced beneficiary feedback and participation. The GPSA will contribute to country-level governance reforms and improved service delivery.

To achieve this objective, the GPSA will provide strategic and sustained support to beneficiary groups and civil society organizations (CSOs) in developing countries that are working with their governments, to promote greater transparency and accountability. Support will be provided on two fronts: funding and knowledge. Through a global grant competition, grants will be made available to CSOs for capacity building, research and knowledge dissemination, networking and programmatic activities related to social accountability in their country. The GPSA will make grants for periods of 3-5 years. The GPSA will also support a global platform for knowledge exchange and research, especially in measuring and documenting ‘what works’ in social accountability and the impact of social accountability interventions.

The GPSA Operations Manual (PDF) provides technical guidance on the implementation of the GPSA. The strategy and working principles are more broadly explained in the GPSA Board paper (PDF). The Executive Summary (PDF) of the Board Paper is also available. The GPSA Brief (PDF) gives a 2-page overview of the program.
The GPSA will only operate in countries where the government agrees to 'opt-in' to the GPSA. The government opt-in process is ongoing in countries across the world. The countries that have formally opted in to date are:

·   Bangladesh
·   The Dominican Republic
·   Honduras
·   Indonesia
·   Kyrgyz Republic
·   Malawi
·   Moldova
·   Mongolia
·   Mozambique
·   The Philippines
·   Tajikistan
·   Tunisia

Once a country has opted in, multi-stakeholder consultations will be held to define country thematic priorities that CSO proposals for the country will need to address.
