Closing Date: April 30,2013.
APEC Climate Center (APCC)
located in Busan, South Korea, aims at realizing the APEC vision of regional
prosperity by providing climate information services and technical support for
better regional planning and reduction of economic losses due to adverse climate
conditions. APCC produces real-time operational climate prediction information
based on a well-validated multi-model ensemble system, with contributions from
over 17 institutes in the APEC region. APCC contributes to building capacity in
prediction and monitoring of weather and climate for developing countries by
making available costly climate data and information. Developing countries
without the capacity to produce their own climate predictions are able to
access optimized, high-cost global climate predictions produced by APCC.
The APEC Climate Center (South
Korea) will host a training program in August 2013 on "Producing
High-Resolution Climate Information: Scientific Basis and Application."
The program invites applications from young scientists at research institutes
in developing countries who are working in climate science or a climate-related
field. It also invites professionals at national and regional meteorological
agencies who work in climate prediction and monitoring.
The program will fund
participants' airfare, accommodation, and perdiem.
Participants who successfully
complete the training program will receive a certificate of completion. The
program will be taught by a highly qualified and diverse team of scientists.
The details of the program are following;
1.
Period : 19(Mon) – 24(Sat), August,
2013
2.
Location : APCC, Busan, Korea
